Dedicated to the growth and development of girls lacrosse in Indiana

Meek Honored

Congratulations to Sarah Meek who was chosen as the 2020 US Lacrosse Jackie Pitts Award winner from Indiana.  Sarah is a senior at Bishop Chatard High School who will be attending the University of Detroit Mercy in the fall to pursue a degree and play Division 1 lacrosse.

The Jackie Pitts award recognizes a senior player, in every state, who goes above and beyond in service to her team, school, and community.  An athlete, who truly honors the game of lacrosse, is invested in the development of the game in her community and is an exemplary member of her team.  This player exemplifies the fundamentals of lacrosse, works hard to improve her game, and exemplifies the spirit of the game both on and off the field.  Academically, she is an outstanding student and a valued role model in her school.

Sarah’s head coach Julie Jerrell stated, “Sarah is an outstanding example of a strong, uncompromised, independent female who values her family, faith, studies and most importantly herself in everything she pursues. Sarah is a tremendous student as her grades and test scores will support, with an exceptional ability to manage her studies throughout the school year and during a very busy and competitive lacrosse season. She is a three-sport varsity athlete in volleyball, basketball and lacrosse, and is a top state-level player in all.”  Throughout her high school career, Sarah has helped coach various youth lacrosse teams and clinics.  When an ACL injury sidelined her early in her senior year, she embraced an even greater role to develop youth and high school lacrosse players.

The INGLA board and the awards committee would like to congratulate Sarah!
